WORLD-BUILDING, ILLUSTRATION

Learn English is a gamified experience for members of the Indian Deaf community to learn basics of the English language. The user's journey takes them across five kingdoms - Desert, Mountain, Mangrove, Volcano and Sky. Each kingdom consists of various modules, divided according to vocabulary lessons. After some fun visual research directed by the planning team, I created a set of graphic assets for these Kingdoms and the levels within. I also designed backgrounds for and transitions between these, along with achievement badges. This project is currently in its development phase!

VISUAL ASSETS

A set of assets were developed that would constitute different aspects of the modules - Kingdom Flags, icons signifying the nature of the lesson (Grammar, Spelling or Sentences), buttons to launch lessons or quizzes, and various elements (flora, fauna, architecture and so on) representing individual levels.

LESSON MODULES

After creating the individual level assets, I combined them and designed the environments around them to build lesson modules. The grandeur of the elements were kept in accordance with the difficulty of the levels.

BACKGROUNDS & TRANSITIONS

Finally, a horizontally tileable background around each module was created according to assigned dimensions on the quiz screen, with placeholders for UI elements like the progress board and lesson summary. Transition modules between kingdoms were also made.
