Visual experimentation [Watercolour, relief printing, vibe coding]
Three rapid hypothetical branding exercises using experimental, material-led processes to subvert each product's category standards. This project explored the possibility of using unpredictable, atypical methods to ideate for or generate visual languages for branding applications.
Exercise 1
Jaljira, a grainy, savoury drink packed with cumin, mint, and lime and elevated by black salt, serves as a cooler and a digestive aid. My first branding exercise aimed to subvert the typical pictorial representation of the drink.
I chose to experiment with salt and water to celebrate the unique texture of the drink instead. I used the interaction of salt with watercolour to generate visuals representing its grainy texture, starting with the brand name.

Exercise 2
My second branding exercise aimed to subvert the typical subdued, ingredient-focused branding of Podi and lean into its explosive 'Gunpowder' identity instead.
I began the experiment with the hunch that a scratchy lino carving technique would capture the sharp, explosive essence of the powder well. In the spirit of its bold taste, I decided to begin 'sketching' by carving directly.

Exercise 3
The third branding exercise aimed to subvert the typical cultural and origin-focused narrative surrounding Filter Kaapi and highlight its unique milk-stretching preparation style instead.
I vibe-coded an app on Gizmo to stretch Filter Kaapi back and forth between a tumbler and a dabara, generating more bubbles with each pour and tracing its motion.
